MLS All-Star Game Roster: World Cup Standouts Set to Shine

Thirteen players from the World Cup have been chosen to participate in Major League Soccer's All-Star Game, including American goalkeeper Matt Freese, Croatian forward Petar Musa, and Argentina's Lionel Messi. The roster includes players from eight countries, with the U.S. leading with four representatives. Other countries represented include Canada, Argentina, South Africa, Australia, South Korea, Croatia, and Cape Verde.
New York City FC's Freese and Columbus Crew's Max Arfsten were named to the roster, along with their World Cup teammates Tim Ream and Sebastian Berhalter. Toronto FC's Richie Laryea and Orlando City's Maxime Crepeau, who played in Canada's historic tournament campaign, were also selected. Columbus defender Steven Moreira from Cape Verde, Colorado Rapids' Lucas Herrington from Australia, Inter Miami's Rodrigo De Paul from Argentina, and FC Dallas' Musa from Croatia complete the World Cup player selections.
The initial wave of selections included Inter Miami's Messi, LAFC's Son Heung-Min from South Korea, and Chicago Fire's Mbekezeli Mbokazi from South Africa. The roster also features top MLS performers Thomas Mueller, Evander, and Sam Surridge. Mueller, a Whitecaps midfielder who won the World Cup with Germany in 2014, has four goals and four assists this season. FC Cincinnati's Evander and Nashville SC's Surridge have each scored nine goals.
The MLS All-Stars will face off against the best players from Mexico's LIGA MX on July 29 in Charlotte, North Carolina. This year's World Cup saw a record 45 MLS players from 22 clubs and 17 countries participating in the tournament.
