Revolutionary Return: Matt Turner Set to Rejoin New England Revolution on Loan with Purchase Option

The New England Revolution are poised to bring back U.S. national team goalkeeper Matt Turner on loan from Lyon, according to sources familiar with the situation. Turner will return on loan with a purchase option and will be eligible for targeted allocation money (TAM), allowing him to avoid a designated player slot on the Revs' roster. With 55 caps for the USMNT, Turner played in the World Cup group stage game against Turkey.
Turner's return to the Revs last summer came after uncertainty at Lyon following a change in executive leadership. Since rejoining New England, Turner has played 24 games and is once again considered one of the top goalkeepers in the league. He initially made a name for himself with the Revs in 2018, earning the starting role and establishing himself as one of the best goalkeepers in MLS. Turner was named MLS Goalkeeper of the Year in 2021 and secured a transfer to Arsenal in 2022.
After his time at Arsenal, Turner moved to Nottingham Forest in 2023 before going on loan to Crystal Palace, where he won the FA Cup in 2025 alongside USMNT teammate Chris Richards. Turner's experience and skill make him a valuable asset for the Revolution as they look to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
