Flash Flood Emergency Declared in Northwest Iron County: Urgent Warning and Updates

A flash flood emergency has been declared by the National Weather Service for northwest Iron County, southern Iron County, and northeast Reynolds County. Residents in the affected areas are urged to move to higher ground immediately as the situation is deemed dangerous and catastrophic. Flash flooding is expected in various locations, including Viburnum, Annapolis, Glover, Oates, Bixby, Lesterville, Black, Hogan, Chloride, Sabula, Johnson’s Shut-Ins State Park, and Taum Sauk Mountain State Park. Law enforcement has reported significant rainfall amounts, with thunderstorms producing between 5 and 9 inches of rain. The flash flood warning is in effect until 10:15 a.m., with an expected rainfall rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour and an additional 1 to 3 inches possible in the area.
