Indiana Basketball Gears Up for FISU America Games in Peru: A Sneak Peek at Team USA and IU Uniforms
Indiana basketball is set to showcase a fresh look in Peru later this month, as a preview of the combined Team USA and IU uniforms was shared on social media. The Adidas uniforms will prominently display "USA" on the front, along with the IU logo and the American flag in various locations. The team is gearing up for the FISU America Games in Lima, scheduled from July 20 to August 1, with a game schedule yet to be announced. The event will feature pool play followed by tournament action, where Indiana will represent the United States and face off against teams from Peru, Brazil, Argentina, and other countries.
While in Lima, IU is expected to play around five to six games, with centers Samet Yigitoglu and Clemens Sokolov unable to participate due to their non-American citizenship. The team has been practicing with FIBA international basketballs to prepare for the competition. Additionally, an exhibition game against Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf, a secondary school from Montreal, Quebec, is set for July 15 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, open to the public with free parking available around the facility.
The FISU America Games, an international university student competition launched in 2018 and held biennially, aim to promote sports participation and facilitate cultural and academic exchange among young individuals from various American nations.
