Ryanair Flight Engine Failure: Emergency Landing in Thessaloniki
A Ryanair flight traveling from Thessaloniki to Munich experienced a severe engine failure mid-flight, prompting the pilots to return to Greece. The incident occurred over North Macedonia, leading to the decision to land back in Thessaloniki due to the unresolved malfunction. Unfortunately, during the descent, a piece of the damaged engine broke off and hit a cabin window, resulting in minor injuries to one passenger. Despite the scare, the aircraft's fuselage remained intact, and emergency procedures were swiftly activated at Thessaloniki's Airport "Makedonia."
Upon the crew's distress signal, firefighters, ambulance crews, police, and other emergency services were put on standby at the airport. Fortunately, the aircraft landed safely, and the affected passengers were promptly taken to the hospital for precautionary measures. While most passengers were treated and released, one individual required further medical evaluation. To ensure the passengers' onward journey, Ryanair arranged for a replacement aircraft to transport them to Munich.
