Obernesser suffered major internal injuries and was pronounced deceased at F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua shortly after the accident. The Ontario County Sheriff's Office closed Routes 5 and 20 between Smith Road and County Road 50 for about four hours while investigating the crash. Red's Auto Works towed Shahin's vehicle from the scene.
