Dennis McKnight: The BC Lions' New Special Teams Coordinator with a Wealth of Experience
The BC Lions have appointed Dennis McKnight as their new special teams coordinator. McKnight, a Dallas native, brings more than 20 years of coaching experience in both professional and college football. He most recently held the position of special teams coordinator with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats from 2024-25. Prior to that, he served as the offensive line coach for the Tiger-Cats from 2018-19. During his time with Hamilton, McKnight's unit excelled, leading the CFL in net offense per game and ranking in the top three in various key categories such as first downs, sacks allowed, and rushing yards per game.
McKnight's coaching career began at the University of Hawaii in 1999-00 as a special teams coordinator. He played 141 games from 1982-92, primarily with the San Diego Chargers, where he started 85 games over eight seasons. McKnight also had brief stints with the Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles.
