Meet the International Juries of the 83rd Venice Film Festival: Horizons and Luigi De Laurentiis Venice Award
The 83rd Venice Film Festival has announced the international juries for the Horizons section and the Luigi De Laurentiis Venice award for a debut film. Valérie Donzelli, a French director, actor, and screenwriter, will lead the Horizons jury, which includes Peter Becker, Elizabeth Lo, David Pablos, and Barbara Ronchi. The Horizons jury will present seven awards, including best film, director, actress, actor, screenplay, and short film, with no joint awards allowed.
Carolina Cavalli, an Italian screenwriter and director, will chair the jury for the Luigi De Laurentiis Venice Award for a debut film, alongside Akinola Davies Jr. and Ted Hope. The Luigi De Laurentiis jury will choose the winner from debut feature-length films across the festival's official selection and independent sidebars, with a cash prize of $100,000 to be split between the director and producer.
All awards will be announced during the festival's closing ceremony on Sept. 12 at the Sala Grande of the Palazzo del Cinema at the Venice Lido. The festival, under the direction of Alberto Barbera, is scheduled to take place from Sept. 2-12.
