Own a Piece of U2 History: The Edge's Iconic Mirror-Tiled Gibson Les Paul Guitar Up for Auction

A unique Gibson Les Paul guitar adorned with mirror tiles was once owned by The Edge of U2 fame. This iconic guitar was prominently featured in the band's music video for "Discotheque" and on the cover of their Pop album. Currently, the guitar is being auctioned off by Gotta Have Rock and Roll, with the bidding starting at $75,000 and expected to fetch between $100,000 and $150,000.

The Edge frequently used this guitar during U2's PopMart tour, and all four band members even signed the back of the guitar before it was auctioned off for charity in 1999. This guitar symbolizes U2's transition towards dance and electronic music in the late 1990s, a period that saw the band's album "Pop" top the charts in over 25 countries.

According to Dylan Kosinski, the CEO of Gotta Have Rock and Roll, instruments like this mirror-tiled guitar encapsulate the entire story of U2's daring period, including the music, videos, album covers, and band signatures. Despite showing signs of wear from performances and studio use, the mirror-tiled surface and band member signatures are still visible on the guitar.

The custom mirror-tiled finish of this guitar made it one of the most recognizable instruments from U2's history, particularly during the Pop era. Fans associate the reflective surface with the visual identity of that period in the band's career. This iconic instrument is now available for purchase, but the final price remains to be seen as the auction concludes on July 17.
