Rare Signed Beatles Concert Ticket from Norwich Performance Up for Auction

A rare concert ticket signed by The Beatles during their performance in Norwich is set to be auctioned off. The ticket, signed by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, is considered a valuable piece of musical history. The ticket, from their only show at The Grosvenor in Norwich on May 17, 1963, is estimated to be worth between £3,000 and £5,000. The ticket will be auctioned by Tennants Auctioneers in Leyburn on July 22 as part of their Toys and Collectables, Sporting, and Fishing Sale.
Kegan Harrison, a specialist at Tennants Auctioneers, highlighted the enduring popularity of anything related to The Beatles. The strong provenance of the signed ticket, with the vendor having been present when the signatures were obtained, adds to its appeal. In a previous auction in 2020, a flier from the same Norwich concert, also signed by all four band members, fetched a starting price of £7,000.
The auction of the signed Beatles ticket and flier evoked memories for attendees of the Norwich concert. The Beatles' performance at The Grosvenor included iconic hits like Please Please Me and From Me To You. Attendees recalled details such as John Lennon and Paul McCartney walking to the venue from the railway station, while George and Ringo arrived in a van. The concert concluded with the band's energetic rendition of Twist and Shout.
In addition to The Beatles memorabilia, the auction will also feature a lot with signatures from all four members of the Sex Pistols—Steve Jones, Paul Cook, John Rotten, and Sid Vicious. The auction promises to be a treasure trove for music enthusiasts and collectors alike.
