Shawn Mendes Celebrates Tenth Anniversary of 'Ruin' with Live Performance Release

Shawn Mendes has recently released a live performance of his 2016 track "Ruin" to celebrate its tenth anniversary. The live version, titled "Ruin (Live From Boston)," is now available as part of a two-song bundle that includes the original studio recording. Fans can also watch an official performance video of the live rendition on Mendes' YouTube channel.
"Ruin" originally appeared on Mendes' 2016 album, Illuminate, and quickly became a fan favorite and a regular feature in his live concerts. This release follows the tenth-anniversary celebration of another hit from the same album, "Treat You Better," as part of Mendes' ongoing tribute to his second studio album and its enduring impact.
Illuminate debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart upon its release and has since achieved double-platinum status, solidifying its position as one of the standout pop albums of 2016. The album features other popular tracks like "Mercy" and "There's Nothing Holding Me Back," both of which were released as singles before the album and continue to be fan favorites.
In addition to the release of "Ruin (Live From Boston)," Mendes has introduced two new signature guitar models in collaboration with Martin: the limited-edition 000-28 Shawn Mendes and 000-10E Shawn Mendes. These guitars are inspired by a vintage 1920s Martin that Mendes often uses for writing and recording. A portion of the sales from each guitar will go towards supporting the Shawn Mendes Foundation.
As Mendes celebrates the tenth anniversary of Illuminate, he continues to reach significant milestones in his career. Last year, his Grammy-nominated single "In My Blood" surpassed one billion streams on Spotify. His most recent album, the self-titled "Shawn," was released in 2024 and was largely written on his vintage Martin guitar, which has now inspired his latest collaboration with the brand.
