Netflix and Alan Ritchson have entered into a new first-look feature deal, establishing a creative partnership through Ritchson's Dancing Skeleton production banner. Their first project under this pact is an untitled heist thriller set in the world of MotoGP, where Ritchson will star and produce, with Chris Morgan penning the script. The film follows a group of motorcycle thieves stealing priceless antiquities, with Interpol enlisting a former MotoGP prodigy (Ritchson) to catch them, only to discover that the mastermind might be his long-lost brother.
The project, pitched as a Fast & Furious with motorcycles, has garnered excitement from the studio due to the involvement of Chris Morgan and Jeff Kirschenbaum, known for their work on the Fast franchise. MotoGP has also signed on to support the film, providing consultation during its development. This collaboration follows the success of War Machine on Netflix, which ranked No. 10 on the platform's Most Popular Movies list with 139.9 million views in its first 91 days.
Under the new deal, Ritchson will star in and produce a series of feature films for Netflix, expanding his partnership with the streaming service. Additionally, he is set to lead Maelstrom, an action project by Jaume Collet-Serra, bringing together talent from previous Netflix hits. Ritchson's involvement in unscripted television includes an upcoming survival competition series for Netflix, produced in collaboration with Bunim/Murray Productions.
