Armed Man Apprehended Outside Trump National Golf Course in California: FBI Investigation Unfolds
A man was apprehended outside Trump National Golf Course in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, by FBI agents for monitoring security-planning activities. The suspect, Jeanine John Taele, was found with a cache of weapons and body armor, including an illegally modified AR platform rifle, a 1911 .45 caliber pistol, high-capacity magazines, and bulk ammunition. The arrest took place just days before the president's visit to the golf course.
The incident unfolded when plainclothes FBI agents noticed Taele's suspicious behavior on the golf course grounds, prompting a response from Lomita Sheriff’s Station deputies. Taele, who was already under investigation for robbery by the El Segundo Police Department, was found with a 16-round magazine containing hollow-point ammunition during a pat-down. A subsequent search of his vehicle in the parking lot uncovered a loaded pistol with additional ammunition.
Following the arrest, detectives from the Sheriff’s Department Major Crimes Bureau, working with the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF), executed a search warrant at Taele's residence in Downey. The case has been referred to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for further charges as the joint investigation with the FBI and United States Secret Service continues. Despite the ongoing investigation, law enforcement has assured that there is no current credible threat to the surrounding communities.
