2-Metertainment has recently secured the Japan theatrical rights for the animated film "My Grandfather Is A Nihonjin," which made its debut at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. The movie, directed by Celia Catunda, is set to hit theaters in Japan on August 7, following a deal with Brazilian production company Pingium Content.
Based on the novel "Nihonjin" by Oscar Nakasato, the story revolves around Noboru, a 10-year-old Brazilian boy of Japanese descent. As Noboru's grandfather Hideo reveals his past, a compelling family saga unfolds, connecting generations and cultures across time and continents. The film, produced by Kiko Mistrorigo and Ricardo Rozzino, features a screenplay by Rita Catunda and draws visual inspiration from the art of Brazilian-Japanese artist Oscar Oiwa.
