The identity of the mysterious villain Boomerang in Spider-Man: Brand New Day has finally been revealed. Stuntman Aidan Kennedy is the actor behind the mask, not Eman Esfandi as fans had speculated. Kennedy also portrayed a member of The Hand in the film, adding to his impressive resume that includes work on Netflix’s Daredevil and other popular movies.
Boomerang’s role in the film is relatively small, appearing briefly in an opening montage where Spider-Man battles various villains. Director Destin Daniel Cretton pays homage to a classic comic book cover by Erik Larsen during Boomerang’s appearance. The montage showcases Spider-Man’s heroics in New York City and his defeat of The Hand, a group previously seen in Marvel’s Netflix series.
