Wyoming is set to open its first new coal mine in 50 years, but this mine will focus on extracting rare earth elements crucial for tech products and military hardware. The Brook Mine, located in northern Wyoming, will process coal to extract metals like neodymium and dysprosium used in wind turbines and electric car batteries. The project aims to reduce U.S. reliance on China, which currently supplies almost 90% of the world's rare earths.
