Several pool companies have recalled above-ground pools due to a drowning risk posed by children using the pools' compression straps to climb in, even without the ladder. The recall affects over five million pools that are 48 inches or taller and equipped with straps that wrap around support poles. The Consumer Product Safety Commission reported nine drowning incidents involving children aged 22 months to 3 years who used the straps to access the pool. The recalled pools include models from Bestway, Coleman, Intex, and Polygroup, sold nationwide since 2002 at various retailers and online platforms. Consumers with the recalled pools are advised to request a repair kit from the respective company and ensure children cannot access the pool unsupervised until the kit is received.
