The 21st HollyShorts Film Festival in Hollywood from Aug. 7-17 will honor director Jared Hess with the Visionary Award for his directorial achievements, including the indie hit “Napoleon Dynamite” and “A Minecraft Movie.” Actor-director David Oyelowo will receive the Luminary Award for his work, while actor Katherine McNamara will be honored with the Rising Star Award. The festival will also recognize designer Jeff Hamilton, Ultra Music Festival, filmmaker Madeline Down, and music collective Deep Root Tribe with various awards. Opening night programming includes films featuring Jean Smart, Lil Rel Howery, Slick Rick, Idris Elba, Mary Steenburgen, and Skyler Gisondo.
